On April 12th, Li Delun, the general manager of Zhengzhou Bozhan Exhibition Service Co., LTD., and the Party branch secretary and secretary-general of Zhengzhou Polymer Industry Association, was invited to attend the 2025 International Summit Forum for Plastic Enterprises Going Global, the First Member Representative Conference of the Fourth Term of Shenzhen Plastic Association (the re-election Conference), and the 10th Anniversary celebration. This grand event brought together many industry elites to jointly discuss the opportunities and challenges of the plastic industry in the international market, offer suggestions for the overseas expansion of plastic enterprises, and also mark the successful conclusion of the ten-year development achievements of the Shenzhen Plastic Association, as well as the beginning of a new journey.

Over the past decade, the Shenzhen Plastic Association (formerly known as the Shenzhen Plastic Raw Materials Industry Association) has consistently adhered to the tenet of "serving members, serving the government, serving the industry, and serving society", and with the concept of "integration, sharing, and win-win", has made outstanding contributions to the development of the plastic industry. From the initial difficult start to the current steady progress, the association has organized various industry activities, providing enterprises with a series of professional and comprehensive supporting services ranging from market expansion, information exchange to financial services, promoting the high-quality development of the plastic industry.

During the tenure of the third council (2022-2025), the number of members of the Shenzhen Plastics Association has grown from less than a hundred to nearly 200. A number of outstanding enterprises, such as Haiyuan Group, What Group, Xiamen C&D, and Jusailong, have successively joined the association. This is not only the outcome of the association's own development, but also a vivid reflection of the vigorous growth of China's plastic industry.

At present, the tariff war launched by the United States has brought huge challenges to many plastic enterprises, as if a sharp sword were hanging over their heads. This high-level forum focused on this hot topic. Five association leaders, industry experts and enterprise representatives freely expressed their opinions, attempting to help plastic enterprises find new channels for going global in difficult situations.

At the beginning of the forum, Liu Bo, the president of the Shenzhen Plastics Association, shared his profound insights on plastic enterprises going global from three dimensions. First of all, going global is an inevitable question given by The Times. In the domestic market, the dual pressure of structural overcapacity and environmental protection policies forces the industry to reposition itself in the global market. The accumulation and scale advantages of Chinese plastic enterprises are now entering a golden window period of globalization. Secondly, the choice of a sea destination is a strategic and wise question. Vietnam has become the world's third-largest exporter of plastic products, but about 60% of its upstream raw materials rely on imports. The Middle East has 20% of petrochemical resources, but lacks downstream processing technologies. This mismatch in the industrial chain provides huge opportunities for Chinese enterprises. President Liu suggested that entrepreneurs should not blindly choose countries to go overseas, but should conduct precise research and analysis. Ultimately, the way to go global is a practical issue of transformation and upgrading. Enterprises need to build a technological moat and innovate cooperation models. The Shenzhen Plastic Association has done a lot of work in promoting enterprises to go global, including establishing overseas liaison stations in Vietnam, the Middle East and other places, forming expert think tanks, promoting the "group going global" plan, and is committed to building an industrial ecosystem featuring information sharing and capacity coordination.

Wang Zhanjie, the president of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, summarized the latest current situation of the development of China's plastic processing industry in his speech and conducted an in-depth analysis of the export data. In 2024, China's plastic processing industry achieved an export value of 106.1 billion US dollars, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.4%, with a trade surplus of 88.3 billion US dollars. The United States is the largest export destination and the third largest source of imports for plastics and their products from China. However, most of the plastic products exported from China to the United States are low-value-added daily necessities. This time, the United States has adopted the "origin tracing" policy, imposing indiscriminate taxation on relevant products from major overseas production capacity transfer destinations of China, which has weakened the effect of re-export trade in offsetting trade barriers. From January to February 2025, the total export value of plastic products in China decreased by 8.3% year-on-year, and the industry is facing more severe challenges. President Wang called on the industry to go global in a scientific way and stated that the China Plastics Processing Industry Association is communicating with the Ministry of Commerce to seek support from national government departments for this traditional advantageous industry.

Fu An, the president of the Guangdong Plastics Industry Association, introduced the operation overview of the plastics industry in Guangdong Province in 2024. Although the output of plastic products in the province decreased by 720,000 tons year-on-year, it still remained at a high level in recent years, making it a major province in the plastic products processing industry. The industrial sales output value of the plastic products industry in the province reached 573 billion yuan, increasing by 2.1% year-on-year, the highest in history. Guangdong is a major province in the manufacturing of specialized equipment for plastic processing. In 2024, its output reached 130,300 units, ranking first among all provinces in China for the first time. Guangdong is still a major manufacturing province for automobiles, home appliances, electronics and other products. Plastics have obvious advantages in high-performance, high-quality and high-value application consumption fields, which strongly supports the high-quality development of the plastic industry.

Dang Yong, the general manager of Shenzhen Pulas Business Network Co., LTD., pointed out in his report titled "Building a 10 Million-ton Plastic Materials Export and Re-export Trade Center" that in the first 30 years, global plastic materials were imported into China, and in the following 30 years, Chinese plastic materials will be sold worldwide. In 2024, China's plastic raw material production capacity will be seriously excessive. To avoid internal competition, it is necessary to further expand the scale of going global. In addition to traditional online platforms and offline channels, Plas' model consists of a multilingual sales platform, a sales service team in the country of origin, a warehousing center in the country of origin, and bulk cargo consolidation for overseas export. The company has established overseas sales and service centers for Chinese materials in plastic industry clusters such as India, Indonesia and Thailand.

Chen Ruyue, the general manager of Shenzhen Yili Pepper Holdings Co., LTD., shared a guide for Chinese enterprises to invest in building factories in Thailand in the final part of the forum. She compared the choices of countries for investment and factory construction, analyzed the new investment opportunities in Thailand, introduced the specific process, and shared the successful cases of BYD and SAIC Motor investing and building factories in Thailand.
